Marian Kimball Eichinger

Marian Kimball Eichinger, wife of Robert Eichinger, and daughter of the Rev. George and Doris Kimball, found eternal peace on Thursday, Aug. 29. Born in New Orleans, LA, Marian moved to Oconomowoc in 1977 with her parents and sister, Claire. She attended Oconomowoc schools until she matriculated at Kent school in Connecticut. After graduating, she attended Boston University and graduated with a major in anthropology.

Her interest in indigenous populations was present throughout her life. Her love of travel took her from Ecuador to China and many parts of Eastern Europe where she taught English as a Second Language in Poland and Czechoslovakia. After years of living abroad, Marian married the loved of her life, Robert, whom she met while appearing in a play he had written. They have one child, Iris, who is now in college.

Marian never stopped learning and after 4 more years of graduate school earned a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She was just setting up her acupuncture practice, and also teaching ESL through Minnesota Literacy, when cancer disrupted her life. Two stem cell transplants gave her 5 more years with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and her zest for life, work and adventure.

Marian is survived by Iris; her husband, Robert; and his parents, Bob and Mary Eichinger; and by her parents, George and Doris Kimball; her sister, Claire Kimball Pankratz; sister-in-law Gretchen Twiss and large, extended families.

Her family requests friends purchase original art in her memory.
