Jean M. Reifenberg

Jean M. Reifenberg, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 28, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Lawrence and Bernadine (nee Sobotta) Echard. Jean was the eldest of three children. She graduated from Divine Savior High School in 1964. She met the love of her life, Steve, at age 14 at a square dance, and the two of them were married in 1969. They were a perfect pair. They shared 55 wonderful years together and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Angela.

Jean earned an associate degree and had a fulfilling career as a medical and legal secretary. In addition to her professional life, she was a seamstress. She enjoyed making clothing for her daughters when they were young. Jean was a lifelong square dancer and a member of Spring City Squares for many years. She created beautiful square dance clothes for herself and Steve to wear in parades and at dances. She was an avid gardener who created a lovely garden landscape that catered to birds and butterflies. She sang in the choir at Saint Williams Catholic Church for over 34 years.

Her greatest happiness came from her family, especially her grandchildren, Ryan and Ben Lauer, whose sporting events she had fun attending. Her warmth and her great smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Steve; her loving daughters, Jen (Jerry) Lauer, and Angela Reifenberg; her much loved grandchildren, Ryan and Ben Lauer; her sister Jackie Bowden; her brother Jerry Echard; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Our family and friends are invited to celebrate Jean’s life with us on September 19, 2024 at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., SMÌìµØÂÛ̳, WI. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. to celebrate her life. Please join our family for appetizers and beverages in the church dining hall immediately after the service. Stories and memories of Jean’s wonderful life will be shared.
