BURLINGTON — A 34-year-old SMÌìµØÂÛ̳ resident was killed in an accident at Pizza Ranch in Burlington on Monday morning, according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department.

The release said officers received the report of the accident, which took place in the parking lot of Pizza Ranch, 960 Milwaukee Ave., at 9:53 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates an ASDA-owned garbage truck was backing up when it hit the SMÌìµØÂÛ̳ resident, a Pizza Ranch employee, while he was walking toward his car.

The garbage truck's driver and the ASDA Company are cooperating with law enforcement's efforts to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident, the release said. The victim's name will not be released pending notification of the family. No further information about the accident will be released at this time.

The Racine County Communications Center, the Racine County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Burlington Police Department's investigation, according to the release.
