FOX POINT — Grafton residents Kim and Wade Bosworth are celebrating all things LEGO with the opening of their Fox Point store, Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE in the Riverpoint Village shopping center, 8681 N. Port Washington Road.
The one-stop shop to buy, sell, trade and celebrate LEGOs opens Saturday with a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bricks & Minifigs (BAM) is the largest franchised toy store of its kind specializing in the buying, selling and trading of new and used LEGO sets, bulk bricks and minifigures ("minifigs"), according to the store press release. In addition, BAM North Shore MKE will provide an event space for birthday parties or special LEGO-themed events like after-school robotics clubs, "make-and-take" events, Brick Derby races, and more.
The space will also be available for corporate workshops, mini-retreats and team-building off-site meetings.
Kim Bosworth works in health care at Aurora Health Care in Grafton and Wade Bosworth teaches at University School Milwaukee. Both will be keeping their day jobs, Kim Bosworth said, but enjoy something that their family has always found relaxing.
"LEGOs is something that helped us get through the pandemic," she said. "It’s pretty timeless."
The couple has three children, ages 13 to 20.
Bricks & Minifigs was founded in Portland, Ore. in 2009 and now operates more than 100 franchised stores in North America and Canada.
In 2021 BAM was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s 500 Best Franchises and also named as the No. 2 children’s retail brand. The North Shore MKE location will be one of three in the greater Milwaukee area, all independently owned and operated.
"We are very excited to bring the Bricks & Minifigs experience to the North Shore communities," Kim Bosworth said.
Customers will have the opportunity to be an early supporter of the store by joining the Founders Alliance, receiving lifetime benefits with discounts and special promotions.
The first 100 customers at the grand opening celebration on Saturday will receive a free customized "Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE" minifigure.
